If you are looking for information about our photo workshops that are not credit-based university classes, click here.

I have taught photography and photojournalism courses for the Department of Communication at Virginia Tech, a top notch University in the United States. I designed two study abroad semesters in Europe for university students where students learned photography and studied culture using their cameras. Many students ranked these classes among the best they ever took, not only for the photography skills they learned, but from the understanding of the world they gained.

I believe that the best photographers and visual storytellers draw from talents and experiences that are far beyond those of photography and writing. I have a unique interdisciplinary background, both inside and outside of academia, which I draw upon heavily when I teach and design courses. If you are looking for a “traditional” photography professor; or are interested in collaborating on a grant funding involving photography; or if you are interested in a joint visual studies project, I be thrilled to speak with you about them.
