Hey Curt,

I wouldn't use this as a bag for a digital SLR. There just isn't enough room. It is basically a laptop bag with some space for a couple of notepads.

You could of course us it as a bag for a compact camera, powershot, or something like that.

Is there some reason in particular you wanted to modify this one? Let me know and I might be able to point you to what you need.

How would this work, with inserts, as a camera bag? Is it big enough for a body and 4-5 lenses?

Thanks,

After a year, I am still loving mine. Well worth the investment. Actually more waterproof that I expected.

Follow-up: after nearly 5 months of daily use, my original review stands. I'm completely satisfied with the Timbuk2 Original Commute. The bag still looks like it did when it was new. It has been in numerous downpours and sheds water adequately, and is comfortable and functional.

Numerous people have emailed me about getting my review of other Timbuk2 products. Unfortunately, Timbuk2 has not sent me any items to review. My apologies.
